Focus areas

Here are some of the issues that you can address in therapy with me.

Functional neurological disorder

Seizure disorders - whether related to idiopathic epilepsy, functional neurological disorder (FND), or a traumatic brain injury - do not have to run your life. When I work with people living with a seizure disorder, my emphasis is on enhancing your quality of life, the depth and stability of your close relationships, and the richness of your vocational and educational endeavors. I’m familiar with the always unique, often unpredictable ways that seizures make life a little harder, and my extensive experience allows me a unique lens on the more common psychiatric issues among this population.

Anxiety and depression

Our bodies innately offer a powerful protective response to stress. When we are asked to endure too much, somatic conditions sometimes develop as a form of psychic survival. Psychotherapy can help you rebuild internal safety, stable relationships, and personal agency.

Compulsions

I am well versed in working with agoraphobia, compulsions, panic attacks, and social anxiety. My approach isn’t to get rid of anxiety, but to understand and work with what’s causing you to feel overwhelmed. I may recommend a higher session frequency if your symptoms are acute, or if they significantly interfere with your ability to function day-to-day.
